When we hear the name Katie Couric, the term "Girl Boss" immediately comes to mind. Why, you ask? Because she's a hard-hitting news anchor who's not only professional and poised, but she's also silly, kind, and caring. Couric truly can do it all, which she's proven time and time again. Happy birthday, Katie!
In 1979, the now-59-year-old first got her footing in media when she took a job at the ABC News bureau in Washington D.C. Later, she joined CNN as an assignment editor and, in the early '80s, Couric began reporting for a CBS-affiliate TV station in Miami.
With a lot of experience under her belt, Couric continued to move her way on up the news ladder, even earning an Emmy for her reporting work in Washington D.C., before joining NBC News in 1989. There, she filled many different roles and was eventually named the anchor of Dateline. Then, in 2006, Couric decided to take a job at CBS to anchor the CBS Evening News, where she stayed until 2011. Today, the busy, can-do-all woman is currently employed by Yahoo! News, where she is their Global News Anchor.
When Couric isn't updating viewers on what's happening around the world, she's busy posting to a different media platform: Instagram. There, the news anchor shares everything from her newest kitchen concoction to her latest and greatest celeb interview. Perhaps what we love most about Couric is her ability to truly do it all. Not only is she a professional genius in the newsroom, but she's totally sweet and personable behind the camera, too. See for yourself in the photos below, in which Couric proves she really can (and does) do it all. Congrats, Katie, on your birthday!
