Though long sleeves and a just-below-the-knee hemline don't scream "risque," for a royal, those lace illusion sleeves and neckline are definitely out there. But of course, Middleton pulls off the eggplant Dolce & Gabbana frock effortlessly, and perfectly. Also, please note the way Prince William holds an umbrella for his lovely wife. Chivalry isn't dead!! Or at least it's still alive and well in the royal family

Kate Middleton, the edgy princess? While this might not be a word we'd usually use to describe the Duchess of Cambridge, her outfit choices as of late have us thinking otherwise. Following her first state banquet on Tuesday night, where Middleton turned heads in a fiery red custom Jenny Packham gown with cap sleeves and a satin belt at the waist (that she regally paired with a tiara), the Duchess stepped out on Wednesday morning in a flirty lace dress.

To mark the second day of Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan's visit to Britain, Middleton donned an eggplant-hued lace Dolce & Gabbana number that featured a high neckline and sheer sleeves ($3,495, mytheresa.com)—quite risqué for the royal's standards. She perfectly paired her fall-ready frock with matching pumps, a clutch, and a pair of delicate drop earrings.

Middleton was joined by her husband Prince William, who looked dapper in a navy suit teamed with a tie that coordinated with his wife's ensemble. As always, we can't wait to see what she wear next.
