She may be a royal rather than an actress, but Kate Middleton certainly looked every bit the leading lady in her Alexander McQueen dress at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards today at London's Royal Albert Hall. The Duchess of Cambridge's long black floral patterned gown with a Bardot neckline was the epitome of modern elegance as she walked the red carpet with husband Prince William. Middleton wore her brunette locks swept off of her face in a sophisticated updo, which showcased those delicate shoulders and show-stopping jeweled earrings. She continued her glitzy accessories with a diamond studded cuff and petite black hand bag. Her makeup look included a smoky eye, darker brows, rosy cheeks and nude lips. It was a decidedly more glamorous look for the stunning Brit who is a known minimalist when it comes to makeup.

Her husband William looked dashing as ever in a black tux. It was announced in January that the royal couple would be attending the awards' ceremony alongside many talented and respected actors.
Will and Kate are long time supporters of the Academy. Prince William was previously president of the BAFTAs in 2010 and this year will have the honor of presenting the BAFTA Fellowship for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
