The Little Black Dress is a perennial fashion favorite—a piece so revered, so powerful in its ability to highlight all the right parts and magic the rest away, that it was granted its very own acronym. But a LBD isn't just any ordinary black dress. The process is akin to kissing a bunch of frogs before finding "the prince."
Enter Ann Taylor. The brand hopes to help narrow down the scope of your search with a limited edition LBD capsule collection, designed by its spokeswoman Kate Hudson. The blonde bombshell partnered up with Lisa Axelson, Ann Taylor's creative director, and came up with five little black dresses that reflected and spoke to every facet of Hudson's personality and lifestyle. "We designed them to fit how we all live—so there's something for every occasion and everyone," Hudson said in a statement.
Hudson's LBD collection hits stores in April, but in the meantime, get to know the dresses and preview the designs in the video clip below.
"The Romantic" embodies a soft touch as a short and flirty dress, while "Camera Ready" boasts cut-outs and sculpted seams with a silhouette designed to fit like a glove. Looking for a sleek number? Gravitate toward "London Love" with sheer inserts. "Best Actress" is, naturally, all about the drama as an asymmetrical-sleeve column, and finally, "The Late Nighter" (pictured, above) is a lacy, racy mini—the epitome of glam.
