Kanye West has finally reached the big time. The 38-year-old rapper can now add one of American Idol's coveted golden tickets to his awards collection—which just so happens to already include 21 Grammys. But who's counting?
We first caught wind that West had tried out for American Idol back in October when his wife, Kim Kardashian, and the show shared teasers of the moment on social media. But now the full clip is finally available in all its glory. And yes, it's awesome.
"I always wanted to rap but nobody really believed in me," he tells them, to which Urban replies "I hope that works out, man."
"Yeah, good luck with all that," Connick Jr. and Lopez chime in.
The clip then cuts to host Ryan Seacrest waiting outside the audition room with a very pregnant Kardashian. When Seacrest asks her if she's nervous the reality star replies, "I'm not nervous because I really do believe in him." Kardashian then goes on to say that she didn't give her husband any advice on rapping or singing before the competition.
Meanwhile, inside, West announces that he plans on doing "something original" for the judges that "has one of the judge's names in it" before breaking out into a seamless rendition of his Grammy-winning track "Gold Digger."
Luckily for West, the judges love his performance and at the end, they all clamber over the table to hand him his ticket to Hollywood.
