Last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars saw the start of Switch-Up week. Contestants teamed up with different pros and clearly one pair benefited from the new union—Alexa PenaVega and partner Derek Hough were awarded the first perfect score of the season! The show also took an emotional turn when host Tom Bergeron paid tribute to his father, Raymond, who died this past week.
The judging panel also got mixed up, with DWTS veteran Maks Chmerkovskiy sitting in as a guest. Resident judge Julianne Hough continued to dazzle—literally—in a revealing shimmering cut-out gown by Mikael D with a deep slit up the left thigh. She balanced the high drama look with pared down strappy Stuart Weitzman heels. "Julianne wanted a sexy but edgy look for this week's Dancing with the Stars," Hough's stylist Anita Patrickson told InStyle. "We fell in love with this beaded gown immediately. The graphic lines and thigh-high slit felt fun and glam, and perfect for the show!"
Hough's hair, as always, looked amazing. According to her hairstylist Riawna Capri, they changed their routine as well, in line with the show’s theme, and kept the dancer’s tresses down for a more beachy feel.
“Julianne is known for her amazing hair and texture, so for tonight's look we wanted to switch it up a little bit,” Capri explained. “I created long skinny curls by taking smaller sections of hair and drawing them down as I curled.” To complete the look, Capri used Unite Expanda Dust ($29; unitehair.com) for lift at her roots and finished with Unite Tricky Spray ($33; unitehair.com).
