Happy birthday, John Mayer! The singer-songwriter turns 39 today, and while the sometimes elusive star sometimes keeps to himself, he isn't that shy when it comes to social media.
The crooner recently wrapped up an epic tour with his supergroup, Dead & Company, made up of the Grateful Dead and fellow musicians, and according to his Instagram account, he's headed back to the studio to record some much-anticipated new music. "Off the plane and into the studio," he captioned this post on Oct. 3, giving us hope that a new John Mayer album could be on the way.
When Mayer isn't working on his craft, he's taking countless selfies, which often feature a furry friend or better yet, a few musical instruments.

Morning selfie! I'm so excited to be hosting The Late Late Show tomorrow night that I've been sleeping this way for the past week. It's actually been helpful because by being dressed for the job in my dreams, I've been able to interview some pretty interesting guests. Last night I spoke to 'guy who was you but didn't have your face, it was so weird," "my ex girlfriend who drove an 18-wheeler for some reason and was surprisingly really nice to me" and zookeeper Jack Hanna. #JMLATELATESHOW
Just got one of the best new guitar amps I've heard in a very long time. Also here's a picture of my face. @milkmansound 85 watt steel guitar amp hand built by Tim Marcus in San Francisco. Plus my face. I put a JAN 5751 NOS tube in the v1 preamp stage and it sounds amazing. But if that's not your thing, don't worry. This is also a selfie. #knowyouraudience
