Jennifer Garner is notoriously private, but when it's a good cause, she's open as can be. That's what happened last night, when the Danny Collins star made a beautiful appearance at the Chanel boutique in Los Angeles to co-host a dinner with Lawren Howell and Kelly Sawyer to benefit Baby2Baby, a non-profit co-founded by Sawyer that provides services to moms and families in need. As a member of the Board of Trustees for Save the Children, an organization with a similar goal of helping kids in the United States and around the world, Garner was thrilled to offer her support to a cause with a mission to support the growth of our future generations.

“I’m really here as a thank you on behalf of Save the Children,” she told InStyle before taking a seat at the dinner, held in the courtyard of the French label's Robertson Boulevard store, where stars like Rachel Bilson and Selma Blair were also in attendance. As a mom of three herself, Baby2Baby holds a special place in Garner’s heart. “It’s not just touching," she said of the non-profit's goals. "It is a beautiful thing to be able to participate and connect with women in all walks of life and realize how similar we all are, how similar our needs and wants and desires are. Because no matter what, if your child doesn’t have a fresh diaper, that’s all you want. These organizations are hugely impactful in the lives of kids and the parents they reach.” So does she have any advice for new parents and parents-to-be? "Take it easy on yourself," she said with a laugh. Duly noted.

Garner had a particular glow about her throughout the event as she indulged in a glass of Margaux and a delectable meal consisting of late summer salad, braised beef short ribs, and chocolate and lemon tarts. She said it's thanks to the classic Chanel LBD she wore, topped with Chanel fine jewelry pieces and ankle-strap Lanvin pumps. “I’ve only worn a few Chanel dresses or clothes in my life and they always just feel extra special because you feel Coco's spirit,” she confessed. “Don’t tell anyone, but it is comfortable. The fabric of Chanel is always so lovely. I love it.”
