Rachel McAdams is coming to a small screen near you. The actress is joining Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell as the female lead in the highly anticipated second season of True Detective, which will start filming in California this fall. The new season follows three police officers, played by McAdams, Vaughn, and Farrell, who, along with a career criminal, must navigate a tricky situation in the aftermath of a murder.
McAdams will play Ani Bezzerides, "a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves," according to hbo.com. The actress has been rumored to be in the running for the role for quite some time, along with Keira Knightley, Rosario Dawson, Elisabeth Moss, and Malin Akerman. True Detective season 2 is expected to premiere in 2015.
