What would the world be like without cancer? It’s a question we’re going to hear more often in a few weeks, when October turns into a month filled with pink-covered treasures, all in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness worldwide. InStyle kicked off its awareness campaign today over a private lunch hosted by managing editor Ariel Foxman honoring Dr. Margaret Cuomo’s new book, A World Without Cancer: The Making of a New Cure and the Real Promise of Prevention. “Margaret’s book not only inspires us to dream of a new and exciting reality, but in the process, how to take an active role in our own lives and gives us the tools to do just that,” Foxman told guests, including designers Behnaz Sarafpour and Rebecca Minkoff (pictured), in the garden room of Michael’s restaurant in New York City. “Much more can be done to prevent cancer, and each of us has a critical role,” Dr. Cuomo added. “We can all contribute to a healthier environment, a stronger, more vibrant society, and, ultimately, to a world without cancer.” Read an excerpt of the book in InStyle’s October issue, on newsstands, Friday, September 21st, and order your copy for $27 at amazon.com.
