Rebecca Minkoff’s maternity style is a force to reckon with. The hard-working fashion designer will soon be a mother of two—she has a 2-year-old son named Luca, who is often called (or should we say hashtagged?) as #lucathelovebug—and the expecting mother's fashions are so chic that we had find out how she manages to pull it all off with such sophistication and ease. For starters, she abides by a great rule: "My advice to pregnant women is don’t hide the bump! Celebrate it and enjoy the changes that your body is going through as much as possible."
So how exactly does Minkoff seamlessly carry her too-cool style into her maternity months? She continues to wear some of her favorite non-maternity pieces, like the Rebecca Minkoff Wes Moto Jacket ($598; rebeccaminkoff.com) that she wears in the photo above with her favorite James Perse dress (jamesperse.com for similar style)—a piece the designer tells us she's worn the most throughout her pregnancy. Her other maternity looks are a blend of chic separates. "I’ve been balancing jeans, an oversize tee or maternity tank with a moto jacket," she tells us. The designer's other go-to key pieces are J Brand maternity jeans ($216; jbrandjeans.com) and Destination Maternity bras ($48; destinationmaternity.com). And while Minkoff stays true to her impeccable, mommy-on-the-go style, she feels sexiest in her most easy-to-wear pieces: "Right now, to me sexy is being at home in my PJs."beauty.com) for my face, and Clarins oil ($52; clarinsusa.com) and stretch mark cream ($50; clarinsusa.com) for my stomach and chest. And pedicures are my pregnancy beauty indulgence. I love the massage part of it and getting off my feet!"
If you want the designer to have even more of an impact on your maternity style choices, you're in luck. Minkoff is working on an exciting project with A Pea in the Pod (see, she really does do it all). The collection will consist of pieces that Minkoff feels answer a lot of her own maternity wardrobe questions. "For the collection, I created styles that have been fit specifically for expecting moms," she tells us. The line will be available in October at select stores carrying A Pea in the Pod and on apeainthepod.com.Get more inspiration with our gallery of celebrities' chic maternity style.
