As a true testament to the classic adage that some women just get better with age, we’re celebrating the iconic Sophia Loren’s 80th birthday today. The Italian beauty and one of the most honored actresses in the world epitomized the rags-to-riches fairytale after escalating into stardom from a beauty pageant at just 14 years old. An unprecedented career spanning six decades and more than 50 awards (including an Academy Award, a Grammy, and several Golden Globes) soon followed, which included collaborations with the likes of Marlon Brando, Gregory Peck, and Cary Grant.
In celebration of her 80th birthday, the international film star launched her first-ever retrospective exhibition in Mexico City titled “Sophia Loren: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” to pay homage to her distinguished career. The exhibit features both personal and professional memorabilia, including the Best Actress Oscar she won for the 1960 film Two Women.
