Sean Penn's daughter, Dylan Penn, is all grown up and the 24-year-old dazzled on the red carpet for Thursday night's amfAR's Inspiration Gala. Makeup pro Kayleen McAdams was the mastermind behind the radiant look and she shared with InStyle every step and product used on Penn's flawless face.
McAdams began by explaining that the key to a naturally beautiful makeup application is a strong foundation. "Dylan has perfectly glowing skin, bright blue eyes, and very rosy lips, so I wanted to enhance her natural beauty, but not take away from it. In order to give Penn an extra dose of luminosity McAdams prepped her skin with Chanel Hydra Beauty Sérum ($135; chanel.com). The makeup pro then added, "a flush of Chanel Powder Blush in Fandango ($43; chanel.com) on the cheeks to amp up Dylan's glow on the carpet."
To bring out Penn's gorgeous eyes McAdams revealed, "I wanted to avoid any harsh dark shadows and play around with the new Chanel Vamp Attitude collection, so I created a peachy gold eye that drew inspiration from a sunset." McAdams first smoothed Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Emerveille ($36; chanel.com) over Penn's lids then swiped on Chanel Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer in Or Safron ($29; nordstrom.com).
To really bring out her eyes, McAdams says, "I curled Dylan's lashes and then applied another three coats of Chanel Limited Edition Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Ultra-Black ($32; nordstrom.com) on the top lashes and two coats of the Chanel Limited Edition Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Rouge Noir ($32; bloomingdales.com) on the bottom." A lighter shade of mascara on lower lashes was key to opening up Penn's eyes. McAdams also used a small amount of Anastasia Brow Pencil in Honey Blonde ($23; sephora.com) to frame her eyes.
For Penn's pucker McAdams advises, "after applying a lip balm at the beginning of the makeup application, I finished with Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Color in Coal Dream ($36; chanel.com) as the last step in the look, pressing the product in with my finger to blend the color with her own rosy lip shade."
