This morning, many of us woke up to the news that a horrific shooting took place in Las Vegas last night—one that is now the most deadly attack our country has seen in its history. While the news is unsettling, and information is still rolling in, Hillary Clinton responded to the Las Vegas shooting in a way that’s giving us some hope. In fact, to many, it’s being seen as presidential.
The shooting happened on Sunday night on the Las Vegas Strip. A country music event called the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival was wrapping up with a performance by Jason Aldean when hundreds of bullets were fired. Currently, the death count is 58 with over 500 injured, as reported by CNN.
Clinton used her Twitter account to address the tragedy, and as stated prior, her words are incredibly powerful.
It’s important to note that Clinton focused her words on taking action. She didn’t quickly dismiss the incident, instead opting to devise a plan in order to try and prevent future tragedies. In her eyes, “We can and must put politics aside” to try and make a real difference.
NBC News is reporting that the suspected gunman, who was found dead in his hotel room by police, had an arsenal of weapons in his room.
While we’re so upset that it takes a terrible attack to open up the conversation about gun laws once again, we hope that people take Clinton’s words seriously—something needs to change. Our hearts go out to all of the victims, along with their families and loved ones.
