National alert for a good cause! Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced at a a press conference yesterday that the Office of Global Women’s Issues at the Department of State is partnering with MAC Cosmetics to combat gender-based violence and further the fight against HIV and AIDS in South Africa. "We cannot stop the epidemic of HIV unless we address the epidemic of violence against women," Clinton said. MAC AIDS Fund chairman John Demsey and global executive director Nancy Mahon (pictured with Clinton) were on hand to announce the fund's $2 million donation to provide medical, legal and psychosocial services to South Africans through the expansions of Thuthuzela Care Centers.
