There are few accessories as timeless and iconic as an Hermès silk scarf. These carrés, as the storied French house calls them, are a status symbol as much as they are a work of art. Well, it may have just gotten a little bit easier to find your perfect carré for any occasion—Hermès has launched a dedicated website, lamaisondescarres.com, for all of their silk products, including scarves, shawls, pocket squares, ties, and the like.
The interactive website is designed to look like a house (La Maison des Carrés translates to "the house of squares"), with a room for each scarf (above)—more than 600, to be exact. In addition to purchasing scarves in the rooms, shoppers can also learn more about the scarves and the collections, watch short films from the brand, plus learn how to expertly knot each scarf size.
La Maison des Carrés is the brainchild of the artistic director of the women's universe at Hermès, Bali Barret, who joined the brand in 2003 after she created a capsule collection of scarves for the label. Pierre Marie, who has previously designed scarves for the brand as well, designed the website. "Both an online store offering an exceptionally broad range of our collections, and a place of delightful, constantly evolving experiences, lamaisondescarres.com tells the story of Hermès silk in an entertaining and unconventional way," Barret says.
