Not that you needed another excuse to go all out on Oct. 31, but while you’ve been busy pinning a fake tail on your American Apparel leggings Heidi Klum has been literally building her costume to prepare for her annual Halloween fête.
“This is my 16th year hosting Halloween and I’ve had 17 costumes, like Lady Godiva, the “Visible Woman” to a 95-year-old version of myself,” she tells People. “I like to switch it up every year and surprise people.”
With just a little over a week to go before the big day, the supermodel decided to share the latest stage of her costume fitting with us! Do we sense a little “break the internet” vibe happening here?
“I am working with Mike Marino from Prosthetic Renaissance and his team to make this year’s costume,” she says. “They cast my entire body—eyes open!—to make the special pieces to make my costume come alive.”
Remember the “so yucky but worth it” first steps to this incredible mold (see below)? Now you know the results.
Klum also commissioned Project Runway Season 4 winner Christian Siriano to create the glam gown element of the ensemble.
“He’s designed amazing red carpet looks for me over the years, even for the Emmys. When I came up with this year’s costume, I knew Christian would help make it extra fierce.”
An extra-fierce costume is definitely needed for this year’s party at LAVO New York, which is sponsored by Svedka and GSN’s new horror-themed game show, Hellevator. The Hellevator hosts are creating an installation for the event that mimics the terrifying elevator from the show, which carries guests into the depths of a haunted warehouse.
Of course, Klum is tight-lipped about what she’s actually going as. But she did give us a tiny hint: “This year’s costume is sort of a male’s fantasy. That’s all I’m going to say!”
