London’s Berkeley hotel offers an irresistible combination of both with its Pret-a-Portea, an afternoon tea featuring petit fours and cakes inspired by seasonal colorways and hot-off-the catwalk designer creations (the selection changes every six months).
The S/S 2014 collection includes Christian Louboutin’s Pigalle Spike recreated as a chocolate cookie with a turquoise and signature red sole icing, a Miu Miu exotic-skin tote bag rendered as a chocolate pecan moelleux (moist cake with a liquid center), and a Karla Colletto bathing suit in cherry red icing over lemon biscuit.
Other yummies modeled on designs by Victoria Beckham, Oscar de la Renta, and Duchess of Cambridge favorite Emma Wickstead (tropical crème patissiere with a twirly fruit cone). The tea costs $58 per person (more with champagne). Fashion that looks good enough to eat—literally.
