When One Direction announced their hiatus last year, rumors swirled that Harry Styles would be abandoning his fellow bandmates for Hollywood. While some may not have wanted to believe the whispers, it turns out they were true: Styles is confirmed to be starring in Christopher Nolan's WWII drama Dunkirk.
Variety reports that the British heartthrob will appear in the film alongside an all-star cast, including Oscar-nominated Tom Hardy and Academy Award winner Mark Rylance, as well as Fionn Whitehead and Kenneth Branagh. Talk about a memorable way to break into the movie business.
Dunkirk tells the story of a British military evacuation of Dunkirk, France during WWII. Filming begins in May of this year, and the film is slated to hit theaters on July 21, 2017.
So, does this mean that 22-year-old Styles will be completely abandoning his boyband days in favor of being a movie star? We'll have to wait and see.
