Last night a star-studded crowd gathered at 3Labs in Los Angeles, Calif., to celebrate at the fifth annual Philanthropic Society of Los Angeles (PSLA) Autumn Party benefiting Children’s Institute, Inc., sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue with fashion partner Donna Karan.
The stylish event kicked off with a fashion show celebrating the 30th anniversary of the night’s honoree, Donna Karan, where models walked the runway in her fall 2014 collection. Demi Moore (in Donna Karan) then took to the stage to shares stories of her adventures with Karan in the ‘90s, and presented her longtime friend with 2014 Philanthropic Visionary Award. "Donna and I have known each other for nearly twenty years," Moore tells InStyle. "I’m really moved by the collaborative work of all of these different philanthropic entities on behalf of children, and I think collaboration is the key to creating change. Donna’s truly been a pioneer of that."
Jessica Seinfeld (in Giambattista Valli) was the evening’s other honoree, receiving the 2014 Philanthropic Visionary Award on behalf of her work with Baby Buggy, a charity she founded that helps families in need. As Seinfeld accepted her award, longtime friend Gwyneth Paltrow (in Versace) jumped to her feet to cheer her on. "My 13-year-old daughter, when she was born, inspired me to start Baby Buggy," says Seinfeld. "Giving families the supplies they need for their children is just one of the things that keeps me going every single day. You start by healing a family, and then you start to heal a community, which starts to heal a society."
Chloë Grace Moretz (in Donna Karan), Barbra Streisand (in Donna Karan), Angela Lindvall, Kris Jenner, James Van Der Beek, James Brolin, and more also came out to show their support, and were treated to an evening of fashion, food, and plenty of fun. During the Wolfgang Puck "strolling supper" that included grilled New York steak, roasted beets on goat cheese panna cotta, and roasted black bass, guests bid on live auction items including tickets to a breakfast at Tiffany’s, visits to a table reading for Modern Family, and a trip to New York City to watch Donna Karan’s next runway show.
Founded by Rochelle Gores Fredston (pictured below with Seinfeld), PSLA is a support group of Children’s Institute, Inc., and contributes to their "Building on Success" campaign.
