Gwen Stefani proved powerless against the probing humor of her friend and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show set to air later today—and the results are hilarious. Stefani appeared on the show to talk about her Grammy performance, as well as her upcoming album This Is What the Truth Feels Like. It didn't take long, however, for DeGeneres to skillfully steer the conversation towards the proverbial elephant in the room: Stefani's romance with fellow singer Blake Shelton.
"So let's talk about Blake," DeGeneres suggested as the crowd cheered.
"I thought it would be a good idea not to talk about Blake to see what would happen," Stefani replied after stifling a shy giggle.
"Ok, let's just look at pictures then," DeGeneres said as photos of the couple began appearing on the screen behind them to a chorus of "aww"s from the audience.
After chatting about a few of the photos, DeGeneres pulled out the big guns. "So when he popped the big question—about you being his mentor—how did he do that?" she asked coyly.
"Did you rehearse that before?" Stefani asked with a laugh. "Yeah. OK," DeGeneres admitted. "I did. I thought it out."
"I want to be on that show as much as possible," Stefani said. "It's just... I got so much out of it."
"You did!" DeGeneres said, hinting at her relationship with Shelton.
"You're so good!" Stefani giggled. "You're so good at your job!"
