Metallics always make an appearance on the red carpet. But at this year's Golden Globes Awards, there was a refreshing take on the glistening gowns that hit the scene. It wasn't necessarily the fabric that was dipped in silvers and golds, rather, the fabrics were embellished with metallic extras.
Julianne Moore, who—wait for it—is fifty-four years old, wore a stunning silver gown with an ombre and feathered hem by Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy Haute Couture. The gown was not your average metallic gown—it had such a molten sheen that it looked as though it was poured over her. Kate Beckinsale chose to wear an Elie Saab Couture gown with an elaborately embellished bodice. The actress's metallic look was a bit more subtle thanks to the floaty, champagne-colored skirt. Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson, a Golden Globes red carpet newbie, showed up making a statement in a gleaming Chanel number with an asymmetrical hem.
Metallic gowns never fail on the red carpet, but the best looks are always the most unexpected successes. This trend, is a winner, which goes without saying, for it's timeless message and subtle streak of modernity.
