Just yesterday we got a sneak peek at Gisele Bündchen’s Chanel No. 5 campaign film, and now we have more details on the highly anticipated short. The supermodel, sparkling in a silver sequined Chanel haute couture ensemble, debuted her No. 5 campaign film "You're the One That I Want" last night in New York City during a star-studded dinner party with Karl Lagerfeld, Lily Allen, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge, and more—and we were there to check it out.
In the stunning Baz Luhrmann-produced and directed film, Bündchen portrays a woman struggling to balance her work, marriage, and motherhood. "It's a thinly veiled expression of her life," Luhrmann tells InStyle. "I think Gisele is the perfect symbol of the Chanel woman now. It is about bringing all those aspects to life. It's a multi-layered woman."
The solution for her character's chaotic life is in the sea, as the supermodel takes to the waves on a Chanel surfboard in the film. Surfing is easy for Tom Brady's naturally athletic wife who goes a few times a year, but acting proved more challenging. "I'm not an actress and in my job, I'm dealing with a camera that is still," she tells InStyle at the event where guests enjoyed tuna tartare, yellowtail ceviche, and flutes of champagne. "I'm very aware of it and it's very easy to control that. In a movie, there are cameras everywhere and you don't even know where they are shooting you and what's happening, so you have to really trust."
While riding the waves was no problem, the ocean at the shoot in the Hamptons was freezing at the time. "She makes it look like it was the warmest water in the world," Luhrmann says. "It wasn't!" Despite the cold temps, the Brazilian beauty enjoyed showing off her surfing skills. "I just love the water, the whole feeling of being in the surf," she explains. "You feel this adrenaline and at the same time, this peace."
However, don't expect to see Bündchen cutting waves on that Chanel surboard during her next family vacation in Costa Rica. "I think it's on tour," Luhrmann says of it's post-production whereabouts. "It's a holy relic!"
