We're currently in the process of re-watching all sevens seasons of the Gilmore Girls in preparation for the upcoming Netflix revival of the hit TV show, and we can't help but feel a little heartbroken that one of our favorite characters won't be making an appearance.
A new still from the upcoming four-part series was recently released, and its meaning has us tearing up. All three Gilmore women are shown in the image, which features Emily (Kelly Bishop), Lorelai (Lauren Graham), and Rory (Alexis Bledel) standing side by side while holding flowers in a cemetery (below). Presumably, the trio is paying tribute to Richard Gilmore—Edward Herrmann, the beloved actor who played him in the series, passed away in December of 2014. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will pick up after Richard's death, which creator Amy Sherman-Palladino recently shared will play a monumental role in the four new episodes.
Last week, the first page from the script was released, and it gave us a sneak peek at how the revival will kick off all while giving us a much-needed glimpse at Lorelai and Rory's famous fast-paced banter.
We're counting the days until Friday, Nov. 25, when Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life hits Netflix.
