It was utter fandemonium at last night’s world premiere of The Fault in Our Stars in New York City. Hundreds of fans lined the street outside of the famed Ziegfeld Theater clutching signs and hardcopies of the bestselling YA book in the hopes that the film’s stars would stop for signatures and selfies—and they were certainly rewarded!
As the cast made their way down the carpet to greet fans, the roars became deafening, making it clear that John Green’s story about two star-crossed teenagers, Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort), who fall in love after meeting in a cancer support group, has become a phenomenon.
“It’s such a small story about five people, and it’s getting [so] much attention,” Nat Wolff told us yesterday at the InStyle-hosted premiere. “It’s a testament to John’s writing.”
Wolff who plays Isaac, one of Gus’s best friends in the film, is a scene-stealer in the movie, but he was quick to admire his co-star Woodley’s acting chops. “She really is probably one of the most brilliant actresses I have ever worked with,” he said. “She’s ridiculous, and also she’s just a great person. We became good friends." That bond that was clearly evident on the big screen! See him and the rest of the cast when the movie opens this Friday, June 6.
P.S. If you make it the theaters, we recommend you bring a lot of tissues.
