You heard it here first! Emma Roberts will be the next star to document the stylish journey of her Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, and InStyle.com has a sneak peek at her campaign. The brand is partnering with the actress as part of von Furstenberg's Global Influencer Program Journey of a Dress, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the label's iconic wrap dress that debuted in 1974.
Roberts first met the designer last year, when she was her guest at the Met Ball. "I was jumping up and down when I found out I was going to get to go to the Met Ball with Diane! I of course was a fan of her line, but also was a fan of her," Roberts tells InStyle.com. "She is all about women feeling confident, and I love and admire how vocal she is about it. I still have the DVF Met Ball dress she designed for me hanging in my closet!
Though she first met von Furstenberg last year, Roberts is no newbie to her creations and has been a fan for some time. "My first wrap dress I got as a teenager, and I remember wanting it so bad. I just fell in love with it," she says. "I saved up my allowance to buy it, and was so excited when I took it home. I tried it on around the house so many times before wearing it out because I didn't want to get it dirty. My mom was like 'Wear it out Emma! It's fabulous!'"
Aside from the fond memories, what does Roberts love most about the style? Its versatility. "The wrap dress is flattering on everybody! I've never seen it look bad on anyone," the actress states. "I also love that you can dress it up or dress it down. It's perfect to wear with flats to lunch or with heels on a date."
In February, the designer launched the digital campaign that follows her wrap dress around the world. The project, which kicked off with Coco Rocha, features a series of stylish influencers taking their von Furstenberg New Jeanne Two wrap dress in classic black-and-white chain link ($345; dvf.com) on a global tour. Roberts will document the journey of her wrap dress via social media throughout the summer beginning later this month. Interested to see where Roberts takes her famous wrap?
