R&R has never been better deserved. The U.S. women's gymnastic team took in some much-needed time to unwind on Saturday after their historic victories at the Summer Olympics in Rio. Trading out their performance leotards for bikinis that showed off their rock-hard figures and enviable abs, the Final Five hit the beach for some restorative fun in the sun.
Four-time gold medalist Simone Biles, 19, took to Snapchat to share a glimpse of the team's relaxing beach day. Team captain Aly Raisman, 22, exclaims, "Hey! Beach! Finally," in Biles's video before Biles, Raisman, and Madison Kocian, 19, are seen posing in the sand. The trio is beaming, and they certainly have a lot to smile about.
On Aug. 9, the Final Five took home the gold medal in the team competition. They also made history with their impressive grand total of nine medals, the most medals won by any women's team since the 1972 Olympics in Munich where the Soviet Union won 10, according to the Team U.S.A. website.
In another snap, Biles reclines poolside with Laurie Hernandez, 16. As she continues to capture their time off, Biles and her teammates are giggly and celebratory as they have a blast hanging out and taking in the views.
Now, in addition to celebrating their victories by the pool and at the beach, the team has the Closing Ceremonies to look forward to. The event will be extra special for the Final Five as Biles has been selected to be Team USA's flag bearer.
"It's an incredible honor to be selected as the flag bearer by my Team USA teammates,” said Biles. “This experience has been the dream of a lifetime for me and my team and I consider it a privilege to represent my country, the United States Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics by carrying our flag. I also wish to thank the city of Rio de Janeiro, and the entire country of Brazil, for hosting an incredible Games.”
Cheers to this talented group of athletes!
