Time for a fun little fashion lesson! Our word of the day is: Craquelé. It's the fancy French word for the word crackle (stemming from craquelure), which denotes the natural cracks and crevices that occur over time in ancient ceramics and paintings (think: Mona Lisa). Now, Miuccia Prada adapted the idea and used it for her just-launched Miu Miu accessory collection (shown right), achieving the look by cracking the leather's colored dye on the surface. The two-tone craquelé leather totes just hit ($1,395 to $1,965), and there are pumps available as well ($695), in colors like cipria, red, geranio, and black. Got it? OK, good—school's out!
