Schiaparelli is having a moment! Nearly 40 years after the death of Elsa Shiaparelli, the Italian fashion designer's iconic label is the focus of this year’s Costume Institute exhibit at the Met, and, thanks to Italian business titan Diego Della Valle, her line is set to enjoy a revival, WWD reports. Between the two World Wars, Elsa Schiaparelli was one of fashion's most prominent figures, and she's credited with the invention of brightly colored zippers, mix-and-match sportswear, and the wedge shoe. Della Valle will name a designer to head up the project this September, and Schiaparelli's first collection since 1954 will debut next February, with an emphasis on accessories and cosmetics. What an exciting comeback!
