Awards season is about to get extended to your nails, and we're not talking about that red carpet mani-cam. This year, Essie is hosting their first-ever nail art awards, making right now the perfect time to start brushing up on your skills—pun completely and totally intended. The competition, aptly-titled The Essies, is currently happening, and is spaced out into four phases, ending June 6th. The first is the competition's qualifying challenge, which is going on now until February 22nd, and is open to anyone who wants to put their handiwork on display. To enroll, you will need to upload two videos to essie.com with one showing off your skill of choice using Essie products, and the other as an "all about you" introduction. Essie's panel of experts, which includes Rebecca Minkoff, Essie's general manager Carolyn Holba, and celebrity manicurist Michelle Saunders, among many others, will then narrow the entries down to 10 participants who will move on to the second phase.
Phase two will run from February 22nd to March 28th, and requires participants to create a video demonstrating an effect inspired by the season's hottest trends using Essie's Spring 2016 collection. During this round, the videos will be uploaded to YouTube, and the fans will determine the six who will move on to the third phase, which will also be a fan-gated decision. After Essie's panel of judges chooses the top nail artist in the fourth round, the grand prize winner will recieve a $20,000 partnership with the brand, head backstage with Michelle Saunders at New York Fashion Week, and will be the featured ambassador in Essie's video tutorials. Head over to essie.com for more information, and start lacquering up now.
