Emma Stone is on board to tell the tragic story of Rose Marie “Rosemary” Kennedy.

EW can confirm that the actress is attached to star in Letters from Rosemary Kennedy, a biographical drama about the eldest sister of President John F. Kennedy and senators Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy.

Written by newcomer Nick Yarborough, the film is to explore the life and final days of its title character, an intellectually disabled young woman who was subjected to a disastrous lobotomy at age 23 that left her unable to care for herself. Rosemary Kennedy was largely abandoned by her parents after the procedure, hidden away from her siblings and the public for decades at an institution in Wisconsin. She died of natural causes in 2005.
