Both Amy Adams and Emma Stone have a lot to smile about these days. Both women are starring in two different films, Arrival and La La Land, respectively, that both debuted at the Venice Film Festival, and both premiered to glowing reviews.

The redheads posed together Thursday night at the 2016 Mill Valley Film Festival Opening red carpet, looking like the perfect picture of ying and yang, thanks to their all-black and all-white ensembles. Stone stunned in a white, frilly number with black lining and detailing at the bodice and an overall lacy texture, with Eva Fehren jewelry. Adams, as Stone's opposite, wore a black gown with sequin details and bow-tie straps. Both women wore strappy black heels, natural eye makeup, and a pink lip.

Stone's film, La La Land co-stars Ryan Gosling—their third film together—and was directed by Damien Chazelle of Whiplash. The movie-musical takes place in modern-day Los Angeles and follows Mia (Stone), an aspiring actress and Sebastian (Gosling), a jazz pianist, who fall in love while pursuing stardom.

Adams stars in the sci-fi flick, Arrival, alongside Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, as an expert linguist who leads her team in an investigation of a mysterious spacecraft that touches down onto Earth.
