Emily Blunt may take a lot of on-screen abuse from Meryl Streep (in both The Devil Wears Prada, and in their upcoming, highly anticipated adaptation of the musical Into the Woods), but the actress clearly isn't holding a grudge off-screen. In fact, during the rehearsals of Into the Woods, Blunt saved Streep from taking a nasty spill.
"Meryl Streep's foot got caught in her cape, and we just started to watch her slowly topple headfirst towards the concrete floor," Blunt shared during her visit to The Late Show on Tuesday. The actress—who was pregnant at the time, no less— immediately sprung into action, and caught Streep.
Blunt—who looked downright lovely in a black-and-white cut-out David Koma dress—joked that Streep owes her for saving her life, and that perhaps the tables should turn on their on-screen personas. "I can play the Queen of Versailles and she can be my lowly dress maker," Blunt joked. And, as Blunt told host David Letterman, in perfect Meryl Streep fashion, the iconic actress replied to said suggestion: "Dream on."
