If the last time you rocked a gold barrette you had a purple scrunchie in your hair and a gnarly retainer in your mouth, it's time you lifted your head up.

At Céline's spring show, the hair was loosely pulled back into an elegant half up, half down look. And holding it in place? An elegant circular gold barrette made by the designer. "It’s amazing how that one simple hair accessory can elevate this simple hairstyle into something super rich and modern," says Guido, creative consultant at Redken.

After considerable digging and clicking, we found a barrette ($56; shopbop.com) that looks almost identical to the one used at Céline. If you're looking for more instant gratification, try this easy style hack: Take a pair of old gold hoop earrings (even better if you've lost one of them) and clip off the post with a pair of wire cutters. Squeeze the ends together and nestle it into your hair, using one or two tiny bobby pins that match your hair color to secure it in place. Keep in mind: As with virtually all hair accessories, this floating gold circle works best when it's more ornamental than functional. Use a clear elastic to do the heavy lifting.
