There is no place like home and apparently there is also nothing like Dorothy's dress from The Wizard of Oz. At an auction at Bonhams in New York on Monday, the blue gingham pinafore and shirt dress a young Judy Garland wore in the iconic 1939 film sold for $1.56 million to an unidentified winner, according to CNN. We're definitely not in Kansas anymore!

The dress, which includes the pinafore, a fitted bodice, cotton blouse and a full skirt with Judy Garland inscribed on the inside of the skirt and shirt, was only expected to sell between $800,000 and $1.2 million. “As we witnessed today in the Bonhams saleroom, the dress is considered a true and timeless icon of classic Hollywood,” said Catherine Williamson, Bonhams’ director of entertainment memorabilia.

The fascination with the beloved film still holds strong today as many costumes and props from the film have fetched high prices upon auction. In 2012, one of Garland's other costumes from the film was sold for $480,000 and Bonhams sold Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion costume for $3 million in 2014.
