It all started in the gym ... and ended with a fabulous garden party.
After a chance meeting between workouts some time ago, Kate Hudson asked Demi Lovato about a possible Fabletics collaboration—and on Wednesday, the duo reunited in Beverly Hills, Calif., to celebrate the launch.
The ladies were all smiles and gave each other a big hug as they hit the bash in the Crystal Garden at the Beverly Hills Hotel, with the Deepwater Horizon actress rocking a black, printed, sheer Coach dress paired with black stockings, Sergio Rossi platform heels, and an Edie Parker clutch. Lovato, meanwhile, stunned in a cold-shoulder, floral, tiered Giambattista Valli dress that she told InStyle she loved because it was “sexy, effortless, soft, and feminine.” She completed the look with black Gianvito Rossi heels.

The theme of the event was women’s empowerment, which was fitting considering the Demi Lovato for Fabletics limited capsule collection reinforces Fabletics and the singer's commitment to just that, as well as body positivity and inclusion.
The collection also supports Fabletics’s ongoing partnership with the United Nation Foundation’s Girl Up campaign, which encourages girls to become a force for change for young women everywhere. Specifically, proceeds from the collection benefit the nonprofit's SchoolCycle program, which Hudson explained provides bicycles to girls so they can make it to school. “A lot of these young girls live 20 miles away from the nearest school,” she said during the event. “This has had a huge impact on girls in these communities.”
Hudson couldn’t help but gush over Lovato’s involvement with her company and told InStyle, “The fact that Demi and I really actually met in a gym, and that we connected over the very thing that we’re here doing today, is real.” She continued, “I love what she represents, and I think she has a very different energy, brings a different kind of energy to our company, and brings a different audience.”
“I think she will create a lot of buzz inside of our community for younger girls, which will be really nice,” she said. “She’s been very open about things in her life that she’s gone through, which I think is a really important message for young girls to be OK with going through stuff in their life and coming out the other side. Working out and fitness and activity have been a huge part of that for her, which is a real thing that we can demystify now.”
As for Hudson’s favorite piece in the line, she replied, “I love the Heart leggings.” She continued, “I think it’s cute. I think it’s youthful ... I love the pop of color.”
Lovato, who helped design the collection, told us the clothes were inspired by her “music and lifestyle.” The “Confident” songstress said she was thrilled to partner with Fabletics not only because of her love for Hudson but also because, “Fabletics is such a great company.” She added, “I love that they empower women. It’s an inspiring company.”
Inside the event, Molly Sims, who rocked a floral Lanvin coat and a silk Helmut Lang dress, enjoyed the festivities with jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, Erin Foster, and their good friend—Hudson—as they made a girls’ day out of the fête.
To show off the clothes in the collection, five models soon strutted inside and struck poses in colorful tops that read “Confident” and “Unbroken” and graphic leggings and shorts sprinkled with hearts all while Samantha Ronson spun hits.
The Demi Lovato for Fabletics capsule collection will be available in Fabletics stores and online May 17.
