Debra Messing is thrilled about the "bombshell" updates happening on the set of Smash. And who wouldn’t be? Late last week, NBC announced Oscar-winning powerhouse Jennifer Hudson and Broadway heartthrob and Newsies star Jeremy Jordan would be joining the cast for the second season. “We start in a couple of weeks,” Messing told InStyle.com at the Trevor Live benefit in New York last night, which honors The Trevor Project’s mission to provide crisis intervention to LGBTQ teens. “We all haven’t gotten together yet since the break but there are such massive changes going on and we’re all just ready for anything. And to have Jeremy and Jennifer, they are so extraordinarily talented, it’s just wonderful.” Messing, who plays songwriter Julia Houston, already pictures herself watching them belt out hits. “I can’t wait to be on the set sitting behind the little table with my pencil hearing them sing,” she said. “I can not wait.” Neither can we! Smash returns to NBC this fall.
