After months of speculation, Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that NBC has ordered a pilot of the television reboot of the 1999 cult classic, Cruel Intentions.

The TV series will pick up nearly 15 years after the original film left off—you may remember the iconic final scene where Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon) drives away from Sebastian Valmont's (Ryan Phillippe) funeral—but with a surprising twist that we never saw coming: Hargrove was carrying Valmont's son.

The now-16-year-old son, Bash Casey, will be the star of the upcoming series. Viewers will get to watch the teenager go from rags to riches as he leaves his small town life for a boarding school in San Francisco. He also discovers his father's journal and uncovers the truth behind his family's hidden legacy.

The drama also follows the machinations of Valmont’s stepsister, Kathryn Merteuil (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the film), as she vies for control of the family business, Valmont International.
