Sky blue is lighter than lapis and sweeter than cobalt. It's a subtle pastel that stands out amongst the rest. The slightly dusty cast is especially elegant on outerwear. Plus, surrounding yourself with blue has proven to lower your blood pressure and heart rate, says Kate Smith, a color expert at Sensationalcolor.com. "Soft blues like this seem to have the most calming effect." Wearing it, she adds, also projects openness.

How To Wear It:Seek out pale pieces in heavier fabrics like wool to give the airy hue some weight. Then bring on the contrast: "I think this feminine color looks best when teaming with something hard, such as black leather wader boots," says Tibi designer Amy Smilovic, whose Fall 2014 look is pictured above (right).
