Botkier’s latest collection lets you live every week like it’s fashion week. The accessories brand has teamed up with Canadian model Coco Rocha for a just-launched holiday capsule of six bag designs, available now at botkier.com. Each piece in the collection is influenced by one of the world's four trendiest destinations—places that Rocha knows well after walking runways across the globe throughout her 13-year modeling career. “The pieces are all inspired by the fashion capitals of the world,” Rocha recently told InStyle when she gave us a sneak peek at the line. “So we looked at designers from London, New York, Milan, and Paris.”
When Rocha first began to collaborate with the Botkier team, she had a vision for the collection's overall aesthetic. “I like things to be bold and structured,” she said. “I usually don’t usually go for fluffy, bohemian-chic pieces. For me, it’s all about the lines.” But it’s also about the hue. When it came to choosing the color palette for the collection’s six styles, Rocha wanted to get it right. “I sat down with the Botkier team and learned about the colors of the season,” she said.
Together, they settled on an assortment of shades that includes silver, grey, red, and black—a must-have in the model’s wardrobe. “I’ll probably always have some black in my accessories, but it’s also important to have a pop of color,” said Rocha. So she decided to include a standout shade of rouge in which three of the collection’s styles are available. “Red really spoke to me, and it wasn’t too bright or too dark for fall and winter.” Other than choosing seasonally-appropriate hues, Rocha had one main priority: functionality. “We wanted to improve on a bag that we’ve seen a hundred ways, and make it just a little different,” she said.

London Clutch, $248
“This one is my favorite,” said Rocha. “It’s a little futuristic, because the designers of London are edgy and always thinking forward. They’re less about the classics, and more about lines and symmetry.” Plus, it’s practical. “I’m a girl that loses her phone all the time, but this bag has an outside pocket so you’ll never lose it again,” said Rocha. “And the bag goes from day to night—you can take the strap off to make it a clutch.”
“French designers are classic, chic, and traditional,” said Rocha. “To me, this is a simple bag that’s very in line with the Botkier brand.” But Rocha added her own flair to the label’s signature design. “The twist here is that we added in a little fur,” she said. “The metals were also important, right down to the zippers.”
Milan Clutch, $298
For the Italian-inspired pieces, Rocha channeled the runway. “Designers from Milan think that ‘more is more,’ like Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana,” she said. That mentality inspired Rocha to design a piece that was over-the-top, even when it came to the details. “I thought, ‘Why not have a bag that is just fully fringed?’" she said.
New York Shoulder, $298
The New York-based Rocha knew exactly what she wanted to design to reflect the city that she calls home. “The New York bag is for the East Village meets Soho girl,” she said. “It adds some punk edge to a classic, sophisticated lady.”
