When Club Monaco's creative director Caroline Belhumeur (above, right) counts vintage movie star Joan Crawford as her ultimate style icon ... you know you can expect something fabulous in their stores. "Textures and new proportions" is how she summed up the brand's fall collection. Below, Belhumeur dishes on Club Monaco's offerings, what we can expect during the holiday season, and more.

What was the inspiration behind the fall collection?
"The fall collection was inspired by Iceland and was really all about the landscape. We referenced the Icelandic ocean views, pairing camel and moss green with stark whites, ivory, and tones of heathered charcoal. We also threw in a tropical print for a bit of fun."

Tell us about your favorite fall trends.
"We were really feeling layering, with coats in longer lengths pared back to turtlenecks beneath luxurious sweaters and high waisted pants."

Which pieces would you recommend for a day at the office?
"A straight leg, high waisted dress trouser—the updated proportions take a cue from the '90s and feel new and fresh. They’re perfect paired with a sleek blazer and a tucked-in shirt."

Which pieces work well for chic off-duty style?

"I love the idea of pairing our Lycus vest (clubmonaco.com for similar styles) or Meera cable knit sweater ($150; clubmonaco.com) with a casual boyfriend style trouser."

What can we look forward to for holiday from Club Monaco?
"Fringe, feathers, and strapless jumpers."
