It takes more than a little one-two step to get a killer physique like Ciara's. Though we can make a feeble attempt at her fitness regime, eating clean plays a big role; so during an event for Unilever's #ShareAMeal campaign, we just had to ask the Grammy Award winner what a typical day looks like for her food-wise, as we took notes for our own regime.
"It really depends, but I love eating stuff that's so good for you, but a little bad at the same time," the star tells InStyle. "On a typical day, I typically eat five to eight meals, and it'll be snacks in between the big meals, with lunch as my biggest of the day." The performer usually likes to start her day with breakfast consisting of egg whites, turkey sausage, and healthy pancakes. Between then and lunch, she'll take a snack break with some fruit. "Lunch will be a grilled chicken with a baked potato and some broccoli—you know, complex carbs and good fiber—and for dinner, I may have a pasta, but it will be a healthy version with healthy meats and cleaner, homemade sauces. Everything is sort of a cleaner, better version of the stuff I eat to indulge."
But that isn't to say that the star stays super-strict. "I love me some good food," she says. "I love Thanksgiving meals—turkey, candied yams, macaroni and cheese, and my stuffing and cornbread. It's the ultimate comfort food. Just talking about it, I can't wait!"
Appropriately, the food-loving star is helping to spread the love this holiday season in a partnership with Unilever for its #ShareAMeal campaign, which aims to combat childhood hunger by donating meals to those in need through Feeding America. "I was honestly so excited to get involved, because I've always wanted to do something like this, and as a mom, campaigns like this speak to my heart very deeply," she tells us. "Every day, one in five children suffer from childhood hunger, and knowing that information, I was super excited to use my platform as an entertainer to make a difference."
Every time someone uses the hashtag #ShareAMeal on social media, Unilever will donate a meal to Feeding America, as well as one additional meal for every like, comment, and share the post receives. "So far, they've already provided one million meals, and our ultimate goal is to rally America to provide one million more," Ciara adds. "It's really cool, because we get to turn around this crazy social media phase we're living in, and replace some of the posts with more impactful things."
