What do cool girls Taylor Swift and Emily Ratajkowski have in common? They both love vintage-inspired dresses by Los Angeles-based line Christy Dawn. Swift even wore one of the feminine looks (called "The Fitzgerald") in her "Style" music video.
The label just opened its first boutique on an up-and-coming stretch of Lincoln Blvd. in Venice, next to other newbie shops, Bassike and Late Sunday Afternoon. You may recognize Christy Dawn's founder and lead designer, Christy Dawn Petersen, as a model for other celeb favorite brand Reformation. Her namesake label draws inspiration from vintage pieces to create refined and effortless dresses in unique prints that are not only ultra feminine, but also well made. Each dress is sewn in Downtown L.A. from dead stock fabric left over from large fashion houses. Nothing goes to waste here—the whole line is local and sustainable. Some dresses are even produced in small, exclusive batches when Petersen finds great printed fabrics with only a few yards left.
Christy Dawn's full line is carried in-store, along with fashion and home accessories like Marais shoes and Fig + Moss soaps and candles. An essential oil diffuser mists lavender oil all day long, making the entire space smell like a spa, and rows of its gorgeous dress confections will keep you browsing (and buying) for hours. As a bonus, each dress you purchase is wrapped in acid-free kraft tissue, topped with a bundle of dried lavender, and sealed in a handmade cedar box. Now that’s bespoke service worthy of T-Swift—and you.
