With the CFDA Fashion Awards just a few weeks away, there was no better way to celebrate its Swarovski award nominees than with a fashion carnival-themed cocktail party.
As nominees like Brandon Maxwell, Laura Kim, and Rio Uribe made their way to the bash in the historic lobby of 100 Barclay in New York City Wednesday, they were treated to a chic carnivalesque fun house of sorts adorned with bright red, gold and black decor. A giant pinwheel served as the backdrop to the photo booth, and was created using custom crystal pennants designed by each of the nine Swarovski Award nominees.
When guests stepped up to take their photos, a carnival attendant adorned in Atelier Swarovski jewelry and a custom Gigi Burris Swarovski crystal headpiece spun the colorful wheel in the background of the snaps.
That was just the beginning for the fashionable treats inside of the fête. At a tarot reading station, two fortune tellers—styled in Swarovski crystal looks and crystal turbans—helped nominees predict their chances of winning their awards at a tarot reading station that included Crystallized pieces from the 2015 Bergdorf Goodman holiday windows.
Even the DJ was adorned with Swarovski jewelry, with DJ May Kwok spinning hits in Atelier Swarovski baubles, while guests munched on carnival themed-grub from Pinch catering.
The Swarovski Award nominees honored at the bash included Womenswear nominees Brandon Maxwell, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia for Monse, and Ryan Roche, Swarovski Award for Menswear nominees Rio Uribe for Gypsy Sport and Alex Orley, Matthew Orley, and Samantha Orley for Orley, and Swarovski Award for Accessory Design nominees Aurora James for Brother Vellies, Gigi Burris, and Paul Andrew. The CFDA Fashion Awards will take place June 6 in N.Y.C.
