Friday morning, America woke up to yet another gun-related tragedy: five police officers had been killed and seven others injured in Dallas Thursday night. It was the single deadliest incident for U.S. law enforcement since September 11, 2001. It is currently believed a lone sniper carried out the attack, which occurred around an otherwise non-violent protest against police brutality following the fatal shootings of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana, both by police, earlier this week.
As the news broke, some of Hollywood’s biggest names spoke out, adding their voices to messages of prayers and peace. “Being against cops killing is not equal to being for killing cops. We need peace in our streets,” John Legend wrote on Twitter.
