Happy birthday to David Bowie, who turns 69 today! In honor of his special day, he released a new album, entitled ★ and pronounced Blackstar, proving this icon is never too old to make new music.

In fact, he is far from retired. In August it was announced that he would be contributing original music to The Spongebob Musical, which will premiere in Chicago this summer. Next he collaborated on the theme song for the Canal+/Sky Atlantic TV show, The Last Panthers. The European drama was picked up by SundanceTV, and will air in the U.S. this spring.

In another round of good news for David Bowie fans, the rock legend released the title track off his new album in November, along with a 10-minute music video. The next track, “Lazarus,” came in December, and the rest of his album was released today on his 69th birthday. If that wasn’t enough, fans can enjoy his music at the off-Broadway show, Lazarus, starring Michael C. Hall of Dexter fame.

He may be getting older, but this music icon shows no signs of slowing down.
