Last season, Giambattista Valli took observers' breath away when he closed his fall/winter 2014 Haute Couture show with a series of pajama-style tops tucked into dramatic tiered ombre ballgown skirts. They caught our eye, and they happened to catch Lena Dunham’s, too. The Girls star sent everyone atwitter when she swept onto the 2014 Emmys red carpet in the couture creation, which was henceforth affectionately dubbed the "cupcake dress."

Well, for spring 2015, the designer has re-imagined the cupcake dress, taking it to new, extraordinary heights. Leading up to the finale, he sent out shiny separates affixed with decadent ruffled cotton candy-esque capes, each washed in the same pale shade.

And finally, he closed the show with a frothy rose pink tiered dress that was as voluminous as it was achingly sweet (above, center). If that's not the very definition of a cupcake dress, we don't know what is.

Ahead, you'll find more fashion moments from the couture shows, including Dior, Atelier Versace, and Schiaparelli.
