Ladies, set your TiVos: Tonight, at 11pm EST, Bravo premieres its newest obsession-worthy reality series, Work of Art: The Search for the Next Great American Artist. On the show, fourteen aspiring artists will compete for $100,000 and a solo show at the famed Brooklyn Museum, but the beauty of this program is the way that it accurately represents the intersection between art and fashion: Halston creative director Sarah Jessica Parker is an executive producer, and designer Cynthia Rowley's husband—the artist Bill Powers—serves as a judge; the show is hosted by erstwhile model/it girl China Chow. (And one of the contestants, Peregrine, owns a lingerie boutique and recently co-produced a magazine that explores the relationship between fashion and art.) As Rowley exclusively told us, "Art and fashion often go hand in hand, and [this is] the first time we've been able to look inside the artist's studio. We get to see the process, from inspiration to final work, with a little healthy competition bringing out the best (and the worst)." We're already dusting off our sketchbooks.
UPDATE: SJP made a surprise cameo on the season premiere, giving the artists a pep talk before their first challenge. And although we don't expect to see more of her, we can at least hold out hope!
