The real star at The Blonds runway show last night in New York was the new Barbie the glamorous designers created (their second!) to support the MAC AIDS Fund. The all-pink doll, which is covered in tiny Swarovski crystals, is being auctioned off on charitybuzz.com through September 25. "She is special because she’s completely covered in Swarovski crystals," designer David Blond told InStyle.com at the show. "And her shoes have these tiny, tiny crystals pavéd all over them." Why did the platinum designers decide to collaborate with Mattel on the doll, who also (naturally) comes outfitted with a bright pink fur coat? "Working with Barbie seemed like the perfect partnership because she says, ‘You can be anything you want to be," David said. David's design partner Phillipe explained a bit more about the process of dressing the ultimate doll: "She borrowed my heels and my corset and my coat, and she's looking dazzling as ever." We agree!
