When Blake Lively bakes cupcakes, we immediately find ourselves lusting after that recipe; and when she makes a fashion statement by rocking pockets on the red carpet, we want to emulate her look. Which is why, now that she has finally revealed her highly anticipated lifestyle site Preserve to the world, we feel (almost bashfully) at ease, knowing she will be sharing some of the secrets to maintaining her seemingly effortless life in the form of access to her GOOP-esque website.
Sure, with a new shoppable blog she'll face tough competition in the form of the Lauren Conrads and Gwyneth Paltrows of the world, but then again, will the current batch of celebrity-centric lifestyle sites already on the market really detract us from craving daily inspiration from Blake specifically? Not likely—because she's just too fabulous in her own right.
"Sitting down to write this editor’s letter has been the hardest thing I've done yet on my Preserve journey," Lively explains in her editor's letter on Preserve. "I’m more intimidated than I should probably admit. I’m no editor, no artisan, no expert. And certainly no arbiter of what you should buy, wear, or eat." But her intention remains to offer a little bit of everything, from exclusive videos (some of which she will star in) to an array of items at various price points, all wrapped around the main concept of storytelling.
"So here at Preserve there are people, stories, essays, videos and goods which hopefully inspire your home, your style and your tongue. There's expensive stuff. Inexpensive stuff. And everything in between. But their value, is up to you. We may romanticize it, calling it treasure. What we're really saying is, we see worth on every level." These curated items for purchase include everything from an $18 cereal spoon to a $2,000 world map made from reclaimed wood, with a sprinkling of fashion, jewelry and even more home goods in between.
"I'm hungry for experience," she says. So are we Blake, and so we challenge you to share your experience with us, cupcake recipes and all (pretty please, with homemade buttercream frosting on top).
Oh, and just one other question as this new passion unfolds: Will hubby Ryan Reynolds score a spot as a guest editor? Oh, we do hope so.
